<It takes all kinds to make a world. Whether you fundamentally agree with the sentiment or not, wearing Christmas jumpers and singing Last Christmas in October is a an unavoidable truth. Fully, we lend our unspirited hearts to the Christmas obsessives among us. Christmas lovers, we envy you, for we are realists and where the festive season certainly brings with it good times and an abundance of good food, we are very aware that we need to be half-drunk to deal with the festivities.
If you’re at all like us, bathe in liquor and enjoy a boozy Christmas with these seven alcohol-laced beverages.
It’s a holiday, the more vices the better. Coffee is better served with Baileys, and if you’re over the pumpkin spice effect, baileys latte will guise your habit when you first wake up.
Add Baileys to (strong) espresso. Fill with steamed milk. Add stick of cinnamon to feign festivity.
Thankfully, there’s a drink that we are actually supposed to drink as a replacement for water during the festive season.
Combine water, sugar, and cinnamon stick in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer. Cut the orange in half, and squeeze the juice into the water. Push the cloves into the outside of the orange peel, and place it in the simmering water. Continue simmering for 30 minutes. Pour in a bottle of (cheap) wine, and heat until steaming.
Excellent source of vitamin C. Your local doctor highly recommends drinking lots of Mimosa. No excuses necessary. https://www.pinterest.de/pin/317363104977697971/
Fill a (large) glass with cranberry juice + prosecco.
white christmas mojito
A mojito is a mojito is a mojito. Festivise said mojito by making it white and therefore applicable to holiday period. https://www.pinterest.de/pin/345651340135482856/
Muddle lime juice, sugar and mint leaves. Fill the glass halfway with ice. Blend white rum, coconut rum, and coconut milk until smooth. Pour over the ice and stir to combine. Top with sparkling water, mint and pomegranate.
moscow mule jelly shots
The best thing about jelly shots is that the family doesn’t even need to know that they’re breaming with booze.
Add fresh lime juice and ginger beer to saucepan. Sprinkle gelatin on top of the liquid. Allow gelatin to sit for 5 minutes. Turn heat up and stir until the gelatin dissolves. Combine vodka with the lime/ ginger beer liquid. Pour the liquid into the ice cube tray and leave in fridge to set.
gingerbread white russian
To break up the wine.
Fill glass with ice. Pour in Kahlua and vodka and stir. Pouring heavy cream in, over the back of a spoon to help it to sit on top of the alcohol. Garnish with gingerbread.
smoky maple bacon old fashioned
When you’re not even trying to pretend to be elegant anymore, rather just having all the good stuff, all at once.
Place 4 slices of cooked bacon in a small shallow dish. Pour bourbon over. Cover and chill 30 minutes or longer. Strain and reserve bourbon and bacon. In a small jug, combine bourbon, maple syrup and bitters.
Pour over ice and serve with orange twists and cooked bacon.
If drinking, you’re guaranteed some peace of mind when rubbing shoulders with loved ones. We’d also recommend staying in bed, binge-watching a bunch of sci-fi series and ordering foodora on all the days between the organised fun. >
