4 pm: the hour of the crime. The sound of your colleague’s keyboard taps alongside your nervous pulse. You can’t decipher your boss’ emails and you accidentally manage to send “Charlene looks drunk”… to Charlene on the office chat.
Don’t give in: avoid the vending machine. Here’re a bunch of healthy snacks and appetite suppressants, which, although require a bit of preparation, guarantee a health surge to keep you steady until dinner.
No you don’t – chips are made of fat, salt and far less potatoes than you’d hope for. Why raise your cholesterol level when you can take pleasure without feeling guilty? Try these instead.
No prep needed
Almonds, unsalted cashews or hazelnuts. A handful will suffice to satisfy the stomach while also delivering fiber, protein, magnesium.
Minimal prep needed
Popcorn. Popcorn carries the reputation of being junk food, but without salt and butter, calories are super low. Add some spices for flavour.
Roasted chickpeas. Bake pre-cooked chickpeas the evening before work. Far richer in protein and fiber than crisps but equally crunchy.
Chocolate bars are evil. Okay, they’re delicious. But sadly, they don’t deliver more than an overdose of sugar and fat. They simply can’t fill you up and you will want more. Don’t do it guys. Do this instead.
No prep necessary
A banana and a few squares of dark chocolate. Bananas settle your stomach nicely, whilst providing potassium, magnesium and fiber. Dark chocolate will make you feel a little gourmet and also contains antioxidant properties. Do it.
Energy balls. If you haven’t heard of these tasty tasty treats, they are an explosive combo of proteins and good fat that will hold you firm for a long time. A delicious mixture of textures and tastes: peanut butter, chocolate chips, various nuts and seeds, coco, carrot, dates. Go wild with these.
You already know it people, soft drinks are nothing but a blast of sugar. You’ll only annoy your colleagues with the unnatural energy bursts. Remember this is false energy: in the event of a late deadline, it will not give you the strength to help you finish the day. These are way better.
Homemade flavored water. Let fruit and herbs infuse for 5 hours in a large bottle of water (grapefruit and rosemary, kiwi and strawberries, mint and blackberries etc.) and enjoy a refreshing drink all day, with a beautiful fruity flavour and minimal in calories.
A fruit smoothie or milkshake using almond milk. Add fruits, seeds, vegetables, yoghurt or milk to your blender to make your smoothie. Probably one to consume straight after making.
No prep necessary
Cherry tomatoes, baby carrots, some dates. These snacks are naturally sweet and will bring you plenty more vitamins and minerals than candy. Rich in fiber and very sweet, a handful of dates will make you forget that you were hungry.
Chia seed pudding. Small in size but large concerning their offer of fibers and proteins. When added to milk, chia seeds release a gel that reforms in the stomach after about thirty minutes (fact of the day). Add a little honey to make it extra.
